Farmers have called for Bharat Bandh today as they are opposing the farm reforms by Centre. Punjabi actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh has been actively speaking about the issue since day 1. And when the farmers called for Bharat Bandh, Diljit also shared his point of view.
Diljit has extended his support to the protest and Bharat Bandh. He made a tweet in Punjabi which translates as, “Stop calling farmers terrorists, they provide food to us all. If India is a precious ring then Punjab is its shining jewel. I am praying that this issue is resolved soon. #FarmersProtest #8DecBharatBandh.”
This clearly shows that he is standing rock solid with the farmers of his state. Diljit also joined the protest at Singhu border and during his speech, he said, “We have only one request to Centre..please fulfil the demands of our farmers. Everyone is sitting here peacefully and entire country is with farmers.”
He also donated Rs 1 crore to purchase warm clothes for the protestors.
Talking about Bharat Bandh, it will take place from 11 am to 3 pm today. Rakesh Tikait, Spokesperson of Bharatiya Kisan Union said, “We don’t want to cause problems for the common public. Therefore, we will begin at 11 am, so that they could leave for the office on time. Work hours in offices will end by 3 pm. Services such as ambulances, even weddings, can go on as usual. People can show their card and leave.”
