When Anil Kapoor Confessed Being Frustrated While Shooting For Mr. India

Anil Kapoor once revealed that he was frustrated while shooting a crucial scene of Mr. India.

Mr. India was a revolutionary film of its time. It was a milestone in Hindi cinema for its rarely filmed superhero genre. With its remarkable success, it turned out to be a breakthrough film for Shekhar Kapoor and actors Anil Kapoor, Sridevi and Amrish Puri. The film is still cherished after three decades and is considered one of the best works of Shekhar Kapoor and Anil Kapoor. Though it is a visual treat for the audience, for Anil, it was a nightmare. Anil once confessed that he was frustrated and felt like crying while shooting for Mr. India.

In an exclusive interview with Lehren, Anil talked about how miserable he was while shooting for the iconic scene where he finds the formula for getting invisible. Anil said, “My scene was shot at 3 am. I was very tired,” as he recalled working the entire day.

Anil revealed, “Shekhar told that I have to do a scene where I have to be very happy. But at that time, I was very frustrated and sad (due to hectic schedule). That night I was so tired. It was the most important scene of the film where I find the formula for going invisible and I had to be very happy. I told Shekhar that I can’t do it since I am very tired. He told that I have to do it because the bungalow where we are shooting will be demolished tomorrow. That scene had special effects also. So at 3 am, we started shooting that scene where I have to portray excitement. But I swear to God, I felt like crying after every shot. I was crying on the inside, but I was playing a happy and excited man for that scene.”
