Alka Yagnik Leaves Behind BTS, Becomes The Most-Streamed YouTube Artist Of 2022

With an average of 42 millions per day, Alka Yagnik has amassed a staggering 15.3 billion YouTube streams in 2022.

Alka Yagnik is one of Bollywood’s most recognisable voices of the past four decades.  She has sung over 20,000 songs in Hindi and other regional languages. The playback singer has now achieved a new feat. The singer has now become the most streamed Youtube artist of 2022, leaving behind the most famous Korean band BTS.

With an average of 42 millions per day, Alka Yagnik has amassed a staggering 15.3 billion YouTube streams in 2022 as per Guinness Book Of World Record. She now holds the top position in YouTube’s 2022 global rankings, ahead of Bad Bunny of Puerto Rico, who received 14.7 billion streams and has been ranked second. Indians dominated the list of the world’s most listened-to artists on YouTube, with seven out of 10 artists belonging to India. 

BTS stood at 7.95 billion. Other Indian singers on the list include Udit Narayan at 10.8 billion, Arijit Singh at 10.7 billion, and Kumar Sanu at 9.09 billion streams. Guinness World Records also revealed that Alka Yagnik has, for the past three years, been the most streamed musician on the site, with 17.7 billion streams in 2021 and 16.6 billion in 2020. Interestingly, she was also the most-listened-to singer in Pakistan with 683 million streams.

 Alka Yagnik has won the Best Female Playback Singer at the Filmfare Awards seven times.  Her most recent nomination was for her song “Agar Tum Saath Ho” from Ranbir Kapoor- Deepika Padukone’s 2015 film Tamasha.  Alka Yagnik has also won two National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for her songs: “Ghoongat Ki Aad Se” from Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke (1993) and “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998).
