Deepika Padukone has faced significant online negativity since announcing her pregnancy earlier this year. Now actress Alia Bhatt, Sonakshi Sinha, Rakul Preet Singh, Bhumi Pednekar, and other celebs have voiced their support for the ‘Pathaan’ star and strongly condemned the trolls targeting the expectant mother.
Expecting her first child with actor-husband Ranveer Singh, Deepika stepped out on May 20 to cast her vote in the fifth phase of the Mumbai Lok Sabha Election 2024. However, she faced trolling from some netizens who made derogatory comments about her body and even questioned the authenticity of her baby bump. Amid this ongoing trolling, senior journalist Faye D’Souza took to her official Instagram account to pen a strongly-worded post, expressing her solidarity with Deepika.
Taking to her Instagram Faye wrote, “Dear social media, Deepika Padukone stepped out to do her democratic duty and vote. She did not ask for your feedback on her body or her pregnancy. You have no right to comment on any aspect of her life. Stop it. Behave.”
Alia promptly liked the post, and interestingly, her sisters Pooja Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt, as well as her mother Soni Razdan, also expressed their support by liking the post. Apart from them Sonakshi Sinha, Rakul Preet Singh, and Bhumi Pednekar also liked the post.
Apart from Alia, actress Shruti Seth responded to the post and wrote, “Luckily @deepikapadukone is too busy taking over the world to give a damn! She’s walking all over their damn opinions.” TV star Tina Datta commented, “Exactly! People have lost it.”
