5 Upcoming Films Of Ranveer Singh Which Got ‘Shelved’

Takht

Among these projects, the first to be shelved was Karan Johar’s historical venture, ‘Takht,’ where Ranveer was set to portray Dara Shikoh, the eldest son and heir to Mughal ruler Shah Jahan. The star-studded cast also featured Vicky Kaushal, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, and Janhvi Kapoor. However, logistical challenges in managing its ambitious scale post-pandemic led to its postponement. Subsequently, Karan pivoted to collaborate with Ranveer and Alia on ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.’

Rakshas

Ranveer Singh had his sights set on Prashanth Varma’s ‘Rakshas.’ However, it’s reported that the actor parted ways with the project citing “creative differences.” In a recent statement, the filmmaker expressed his desire to collaborate with Ranveer again in the future, praising his unique energy and talent. He stated that Ranveer’s exceptional energy and talent are rare. And sometime in the future the two of them could work again. Both parties acknowledged that despite the good intentions, sometimes things simply don’t align at the right time.

Shaktimaan

Reports indicated that Ranveer was set to portray the iconic Indian superhero character of Shaktimaan, famously portrayed by Mukesh Khanna in a 1990s and 2000s television series. The film adaptation was slated to be helmed by Malayalam filmmaker Basil Joseph, recognized for his 2021 superhero flick Minnal Murali. However, recent statements from Mukesh Khanna suggest that Ranveer is no longer attached to the role in the film adaptation.

Baiju Bawra

Ranveer Singh was expected to feature in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Baiju Bawra.’ Following their successful partnerships on films like ‘Padmaavat’ and ‘Ramleela,’ there was considerable excitement surrounding ‘Baiju Bawra.’ However, as per a Hindustan Times report, the filmmaker has opted to prioritize his upcoming project, ‘Love and War,’ which stars Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, and Vicky Kaushal, instead.

Anniyan Remake

S Shankar had been considering adapting his 2005 blockbuster psychological action thriller ‘Anniyan,’ featuring Vikram, into Hindi with Ranveer in the lead. However, following preliminary discussions, the project was put on hold as Shankar became occupied with managing his commitments to two Tamil films – ‘Indian 2,’ starring Kamal Haasan, and ‘Game Changer,’ featuring Ram Charan and Kiara Advani.
