BLACKPINK’s Jennie, the famous K-pop idol hailing from South Korean currently fell into a hot pit after she recently announced her new track titled ‘Like Jennie’, set to release on this Friday. Fans were excited when a 9-second-teaser dropped on social media, showcasing energetic beats and repeated chants of her name. However, some listeners immediately noticed that the tune sounded strikingly similar to Rani’s Theme from Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani, composed by Bollywood’s renowned musician Pritam. This led to a heating debate on social media with fans questioning whether Jennie’s track was inspired by the Bollywood number.
As soon as the teaser was released, discussions started among netizens on social media. Some users were convinced that Like Jennie had the same beat and flow as Rani’s Theme. A viral tweet read, “The copy-paste is real. This sounds just like Alia Bhatt’s theme song in Rocky Aur Rani!” Another user added, “Even the vocals match! Is this an official sample or just a coincidence?”
The sound reminds me of Alia bhatt – Rani https://t.co/IjoNoxgzde

Interestingly, a few fans defended BLACKPINK’s Jennie by pointing out that Pritam himself has faced plagiarism accusations in the past. One tweet stated, “Pritam has used samples from international songs before. Maybe he borrowed from a Korean track for Rani’s theme, and now Jennie’s team is doing the same.”
Pritam literally copied Pehli Nazar me note for note without any credits from a Korean song, prolly did the same for this intro, sampled it, from another international song but didn't legally give credits whereas Jennie will give sampling credits. https://t.co/LDcukEN2D1

As of now, neither Jennie nor her team has addressed the claims. Similarly, there has been no response from Pritam or the makers of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. If Jennie’s track does officially sample the Bollywood song, fans are curious to see whether Pritam will be credited or not.
