Greta Gerwig has been named the Will Rogers Pioneer of the Year for 2024, an honour recognizing her significant contributions to the film industry. The prestigious award, presented by the Will Rogers Motion Picture Pioneers Foundation, celebrates Gerwig’s impactful work as a director, screenwriter, and actress.
Gerwig, known for her critically acclaimed films such as Lady Bird (2017) and Little Women (2019), has garnered praise for her unique storytelling and distinct directorial style. This recognition places her as the second woman director to receive this award after Elizabeth Banks. The ceremony will be held at The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on 26th September 2024.

Goldstein is also the co-chairperson of Pioneer Dinner 2024. Some of the previous Pioneer of the Year Honourees include Tom Cruise, Barbara Broccoli, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Sherry Lansing, Frank G. Mancuso, Erik Lomis, Kathleen Kennedy, Tom Sherak, Jack Valenti, Sumner Redstone, Terry Semel, Jack Warner, Darryl F. Zanuck and Cecil B. DeMille.
The Will Rogers Motion Picture Pioneers Foundation, established in 1939, assists individuals in the motion picture industry who are experiencing hardship. The Pioneer of the Year award is one of the foundation’s most esteemed honours, celebrating those who have made significant contributions to the art and business of film.
