Television star Anup Soni and theatre icon Juhi Babbar have been happily married for over 14 years now and share a 12-year-old son Imaan Soni. However, before tying the knot both faced hardships in first marriages and recently, the couple came together engaged in a conversation where they shared interesting insights about their relationship including a surprising revelation about legendary actor Raj Babbar, Juhi’s father and his role in their marriage approval.
Juhi Babbar Was Skeptical but Confident in Anup
During an interview with Fever FM, Anup Soni was asked whether he felt nervous while meeting Raj Babbar for the first time. Answering first , Juhi admitted that she was “100% skeptical” about how her father would react. However, she had confidence in Anup’s self-made journey in the entertainment industry. She believed that since her father Raj Babbar also came from a lower-middle-class background and worked his way up in the industry, he would resonate with Anup’s struggles and passion.

Raj Babbar May Have Done a Background Check on Anup Soni
Talking about Anup’s perspective, meeting Raj Babbar was a moment he approached with preparation, knowing that certain choice of questions would be definitely raised. As he strongly suspected that just like every dad does, wife Juhi’s father had conducted a background check on him before giving his approval. Anup shared his thoughts saying, “Shayad unhone mere baare mein bahut kuch pata kiya tha, aisa meri feeling hai. Maine kabhi pucha nahi unse” (Maybe he found out a lot about me; I have this feeling, but I never asked him).
When asked directly about whether he thought Raj Babbar had checked his background to which Anup responded, “I think so, I have a feeling. Unhone, see I’m part of the industry and mujhe aisa lagta hai agar unhone 10 logon se bhi pucha hoga toh usme se 80% logon ne acha hi bola tha toh shayad vo bhi kahi na kahi criteria tha unke dimaag mein ki ‘Chalo, jo mujhe lag raha hai aur jo log keh rahe hai thik hai’” (I feel like he asked around, and if 80% of people had good things to say about me, that could have been a factor in his decision). Anup added that now, “Today, touchwood, we bond really well.”
In the same interview, Juhi was asked about one quality in Anup that reassured her she had made the right choice in marrying him. She expressed her admiration for the way Anup respects her family including not just her parents but also her relatives. She emphasized how effortlessly he fits into her family and gives them immense respect which means a lot to her.
