In an exciting announcement coinciding with the Navratri festival, director Prashanth Varma has revealed his upcoming project, ‘Mahakali’. Following the success of his first superhero film HanuMan, which starred Teja Sajja, Varma is ready to expand his cinematic universe with this thrilling new installment. ‘Mahakali’ marks a groundbreaking moment as it is set to be the first Indian female superhero film, leaving fans buzzing with anticipation and excitement!
Today, on the occasion of Ashtami, Prashanth Varma shared a teaser video that instantly caught the attention of his audience. The teaser opens with a striking line, “From the universe of ‘HanuMan’, Prashanth Varma unleashes…” It introduces ‘Mahakali’ as “the most ferocious superhero in the universe. She is… Calm and the Chaos, Silence and the Roar, Creation and the Destruction.” Followed by this powerful introduction, the title of the film is revealed as “MAHAKALI”. The teaser also features an intriguing official poster showing a girl and a tiger in a calm yet intense moment, hinting at the film’s duality.
The backdrop of the poster showcases a circus setting with a crowd in panic as a giant wheel burns in the background. Fans have noticed a special object in the title logo, reminiscent of elements from ‘HanuMan’. This connection adds an intriguing layer to the upcoming film.
In a social media post, Varma shared the motion video that highlights stunning visuals, sparking excitement among fans. This project is set to be directed by Puja Aparna Kolluru, a notable decision that emphasizes women’s empowerment in cinema. With the release of ‘Mahakali’, Varma continues to challenge norms and expectations in the superhero genre. The film, set in Bengal will further explore themes related to Goddess Kali.
In addition to HanuMan and Mahakali, Varma recently announced a third film within his cinematic universe, featuring Nandamuri Mokshagnya, the son of actor Nandamuri Balakrishna.
‘Mahakali’ is produced by Riwaz Ramesh Duggal of RKD Studios, marking their first production in collaboration with Prashanth Varma. The film promises to deliver an engaging experience, complete with a big budget and high technical standards.
