SS Rajamouli’s RRR starring Ram Charan and Jr. NTR has garnered enormous popularity. The extravaganza action film has received word of praise from audiences and celebrities around the world. Director Rajamouli has now reacted to the love his film has been receiving from the West.

The filmmaker was in Canada attending the 47th Toronto International Film Festival. At the film festival, he spilled some beans on his next project with Mahesh Babu and also spoke on his previous hits Bahubali and RRR. He reacted to the response RRR received from overseas in a video shared by the official Twitter handle of TIFF.

Starting with Baahubali, SS Rajamouli said, “We have Indians spread across the world and when we make films, we make them for Indians, including the diaspora. Baahubali was the same. The additional mileage we got for Baahubali was in Japan. It did good to an extent. Even though I believed my stories can go beyond the borders of my states, I never thought they will go beyond the borders of India. So when Baahubali did well in Japan, I thought maybe our sensibilities are similar.”

Talking about the impact of RRR in the West, Rajamouli said, “Never ever [had] I expected RRR to do well with the Western audiences. I didn’t even have an inclination for that. When RRR released [in the West], I started getting the responses, I thought maybe there are a few. Then few became hundreds and hundreds became thousands and film people from different fields were talking highly of RRR, I realized something that I never knew about myself or my films. I am still trying to understand to be very honest.”

RRR is a fictional tale of two revolutionaries and their fight against British colonialists. The movie is a period drama set in the backdrop of the 1920s. The action film also portrays friendship and their strong bond and love. The film stars Ram Charan and Jr. NTR who were joined by Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt for extended cameos.
