Dharmaveer 2: Blockbuster Sequel On CM Eknath Shinde Hitting Theatres This August

Dharmaveer 2 will focus on the current Chief Minister of Maharashtra and will continue to star actor Kshitish Date as Eknath Shinde.

Dharmaveer, a biographical film on Thane supremo Anand Dighe, also known as CM Eknath Shinde’s political mentor, was one of Marathi cinema’s bigger successes. It told the story of Dighe and introduced his protégé Eknath Shinde. The film is available on Zee 5.

Tracing the hold Anand Dighe had over the Thane area until his death which saw the hospital he died in being torched by agitated supporters, Dharmaveer was directed by Pravin Tarde who has directed the sequel too.

Dharmaveer 2 will focus on the current Chief Minister of Maharashtra and will continue to star actor Kshitish Date as Eknath Shinde. Inside reports say that much of Maharashtra’s recent political shenanigans will also be exposed in the sequel which is being readied for an August 9 release.

With the blessings of the CM evident, Dharamveer 2 ambitiously looks at upping its ante by coming out in Hindi and Marathi.

“It’ll be like an Indian Godfather 2,” promised an insider. “It’s been made on such a superior scale.”

Stand by. With state elections around the corner, Dharmaveer 2 may just spark off another political controversy in Maharashtra this August.
