Shark Tank India judge Anupam Mittal has stirred up controversy with a recent post regarding the Cannes Film Festival. Taking to his official X (formerly known as Twitter) handle, the entrepreneur discussed how the event has become accessible to “anybody” nowadays. He remarked that while previously only a select few could attend Cannes, now it seems open to anyone.
He wrote, “There was a time only the super-famous could but these days anybody Canne”.
Reacting to his tweet, many netizens asked and speculated if the entrepreneur was hinting and taking a dig at his co-judge, Namita Thapar for attending Cannes 2024. A user wrote, “Who are you taking a dig at? next time tag pls”, one tweeted, “Direct @namitathapar ko tag Karo , why this ‘anybody’ ka rona”, another user tweeted, “Dig at Namita Thapar. ?”

For those unfamiliar, Namita Thapar graced the second day of the Cannes Film Festival. She donned a mint green gown designed by Elio Abou Fayssal for the premiere of Chris Hemsworth’s Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.
As soon as Namita dropped her pics from the event, she became the target of trolls who targeted Namita calling her a “nepo” kid and bashed her for attending Cannes even though her presence at the festival made no sense since she was no big celebrity, unlike many others.
However, Namita hit back and trolls in and wrote, “You are old, 47, dress your age You are just a nepo kid You don’t deserve a seat on shark tank….Here’s to taking every stereotype ever created & squashing it with my 6 inch killer heels !!!”. Check out her post!
