Heeramandi 2 ANNOUNCED, Sanjay Leela Bhansali Confirms!

A month following its premiere on Netflix, the big-budget period drama series “Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar,” helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, has been greenlit for a second season by the streaming platform.

Featuring a star-studded cast including Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Richa Chadha, and Sharmin Segal, the inaugural season of the pre-partition drama centered on the formidable influence and authority held by courtesans amidst India’s struggle for independence.

In a recent interview with Variety, Sanjay Leela Bhansali affirmed the renewal of the period drama series for its second season. Bhansali expressed, “Crafting a series requires immense effort. This project has demanded considerable dedication. Since the release of ‘Gangubai’ in February 2022, I’ve been working tirelessly every single day without pause. Thus, the series carries significant weight and responsibility.”

The filmmaker confirmed and officially announced the season 2 and stated, “In Heeramandi 2, the women now come from Lahore to the film world. They leave Lahore after the Partition and most of them settle in the Mumbai film industry or Kolkata film industry. So that journey in the bazaar remains the same. They still have to dance and sing, but this time for the producers and not for the nawabs. So that’s the second season we are planning, let’s see where it goes.”

Further details about the project are yet to be revealed by the filmmaker. On the work front, SJB is also gearing up for Ranbir, Alia, and Vicky starrer “Love And War”, “Inshallah”, and “Baiju Bawra” in the pipeline.
