Leslie Grace Opens Up About ‘Batgirl’ Getting Shelved

Directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, the superhero film got shelved in August 2022.

Last year Warner Bros. shocked everyone by completely shelving the nearly completed feature film Batgirl. Adapted from the DC Comics character, it was one of the most awaited films of 2023 and was made with a budget of over 90 Millions dollars.

According to some media reports, the prime reason behind Warner Bros decision to shelve the project was the poor reception of moviegoers at the film’s test screenings.

But now, the film’s leading star Leslie Grace who played the role of Batgirl, opened up and rejected the company’s claim of poor reception.

According to Variety, Leslie had absolutely no idea the movie, originally set to stream on HBO Max, was shelved, until it was first reported by the New York Post.

“I found out like the rest of you,” she said. “And then my phone just started blowing up.”

Leslie also revealed that she liked the film she saw and there was definitely a potential for a good film. ” The film that I got to see — the scenes that were there — was incredible. There was definitely potential for a good film, in my opinion. Maybe we’ll get to see clips of it later on”, she said.

Last year when the news of Batgirl getting shelved was announced, the actress had shared an emotional Instagram post along with pictures and behind the scene videos from the shoot.

Batgirl was directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah from a screenplay by Christina Hodson. Along with Leslie, Batgirl also starred J.K. Simmons, Michael Keaton and Brendan Fraser in the role of a villain Firefly.
