Adan Canto Passed Away At 42: X-Men, The Cleaning Lady And Designated Survivor Actor Was Secretly Battling Cancer

The entertainment world mourns the loss of Adan Canto, a celebrated actor known for his versatile performances in movies and web shows such as “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” “Gentleman Games,” “The Cleaning Lady,” and his remarkable role in “Designated Survivor.” At the age of 42, Canto bid farewell to the world on Monday, leaving behind a legacy cherished by many.

Born in Ciudad Acuña, Coahuila, Mexico, in 1981, Adan Canto spent his formative years in Texas. Displaying an early passion for music, he left home at 16 to pursue his aspirations as a singer and guitarist in New Mexico. His journey began with appearances in local commercials and TV shows before receiving recognition and securing a significant role in Kevin Williamson’s 2013 Fox drama series, “The Following.”

Canto’s career flourished as he showcased his acting prowess, notably in the web show “Designated Survivor,” portraying Vice President-elect Aaron Shore alongside Kiefer Sutherland for three seasons. His talent extended to roles in acclaimed series like “Narcos,” “The Cleaning Lady,” and numerous others.

Beyond his acting career, Adan Canto ventured into filmmaking, directing his first short film in 2014 and a thought-provoking Western featuring Theo Rossi in 2020.

The entertainment industry paid tribute to Canto’s contributions. Warner Bros Television and Fox Entertainment shared, “We are heartbroken to learn of the passing of Adan Canto. A wonderful actor and dear friend, we were honored to have him as part of our families since his US debut in ‘The Following’ more than a decade ago.” They praised his recent powerful performance in ‘The Cleaning Lady’ and expressed their profound sadness at the loss.

Adan Canto is survived by his wife and creative partner, Stephanie Ann Canto, and their two young children, Roman Alder, aged 3½, and Eve Josephine, aged 1½. His legacy as a talented actor, musician, and emerging filmmaker will endure, leaving an indelible mark on the entertainment world.
