‘Farishtay’ is a Hindi movie released in 1991. It was directed by Anil Sharma and featured Dharmendra, Vinod Khanna, Rajinikanth, Sridevi, and Jaya Prada in lead roles. The movie falls under the action genre and revolves around the concept of good versus evil. The film’s storyline centers around two police officers who fight against corruption and criminal activities in the city. It’s worth noting that while the film had an ensemble cast and an interesting premise, it received mixed reviews from critics and audiences.
However, during the filming, the producer, Sattee, had to face several difficulties caused by the director and actor.
There was news of a significant dispute between the director Anil Sharma and the producer Sattee Shourie regarding the film “Farishtay.” She accused him of not completing the film on time and also revealed that she slapped Anil in the midst of shooting.
In an exclusive interview with Lehren Retro, she openly shared her views on the controversy. Sattee Shourie accused director Anil Sharma of sidelining their film in his pursuit of completing his own project “Tahalka.” She also alleged that due to the delays caused by “Tahalka” during the shooting of her film, she faced substantial financial losses.
When she was asked about slapping the director, she revealed that she slapped Anil after the completion of “Farishtay.” She explained that the incident occurred during the middle of a shooting session. She stated that he must have crossed a certain limit for her to have taken such action. Sattee concluded by saying that when she slapped him, she wasn’t viewing him as a director; she struck him while thinking of him as her own child.
Talking about actor Vinod Khanna, she said, “Shuru shuru mein Vinod jinke aas pass hum ghumte hai, jinko hum bade pyaar se unke chamche kehte hai, unhone inke kan bharna shuru kiya (Anil Sharma) ki Anil Sharma toh Dharmendra ke group ka aadmi hai, madam bhi unke niche dabi rahegi. Aur ek saal tin mahine tak Vinod ne shooting nahi shuru ki, aur uske baad face to face baat hui. Shooting shuru hui. Unhone shooting ki barah din tak aur uske baad woh phirse waise hi karne lage.”
Continuing, she added that working with someone like Vinod Khanna is incredibly tough. “Aapko lohe ka dil aur pathhar ka sharir banana padta hai itne difficult aadmi ke sath kam karne keliye.”
Sattee Shourie also complained that he never arrives on set on time, and after being late, he only shoots for half an hour before departing.
