Meghna Gulzar’s directorial Sam Bahadur is finally out in the theatres. Starring Vicky Kaushal in the lead role as field marshal, “Sam Manekshaw”, the Bollywood biographical war drama film was released in the theatres on 1st December. And after receiving positive reviews and reactions from critics and audiences the film registered a ‘decent opening’ at the box office.

Vicky Kaushal starrer Sam Bahadur earned a total of 5.50cr on its opening day at the box office according to Sacnilk. Sam Bahadur had an overall occupancy of 29.18% for its Hindi version. The film is expected to see growth during the weekend. Although the film managed to secure a decent opening however its performance was hugely affected by Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal.

Sam Bahadur failed to beat Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s directorial Animal which earned a whopping 61cr at the box office on its opening day. Sharing the figures film trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#SamBahadur Fri / Day 1 at national chains… Update: 7 pm… #PVRInox: ₹ 2.80 cr #Cinepolis: ₹ 60 lacs Total: ₹ 3.40 cr”

The film stars Vicky Kaushal as Sam Manekshaw alongside Sanya Malhotra as Manekshaw’s wife and Fatima Sana Shaikh as Indira Gandhi. The film will be released in theatres on 1st December.
