Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar, one of the wealthiest actors today, has often humbly reflected on his modest origins. In a recent interview with ANI, the actor shared heartwarming anecdotes about a time when he, alongside his family, resided in a small house in Mumbai. To indulge in the simple pleasure of watching a film in a theater, they would occasionally forgo a meal.

Akshay’s journey began in Delhi’s bustling Chandni Chowk, where he candidly revealed they shared a residence with 24 other individuals. “We were 24 people living in the same house, all of us crammed into a single room. In the mornings, as we rose for exercise, there was a mad scramble to make our way out,” he reminisced.

The actor continued to narrate their relocation to Mumbai, where they settled in a house within the Sion Koliwada locality, paying a meager monthly rent of just Rs 100.

Despite their modest circumstances, Akshay emphasized that not a single day passed without smiles and laughter. “Now that we have financial security, there are moments when we may feel a bit melancholic, but back then, there was hardly anything to be sad about,” he conveyed.

Akshay shared that their meals comprised simple dishes like dal chawal, aloo gobhi, bhindi, and yet, they found happiness and contentment in these basic pleasures.

He also revealed their Saturday tradition of watching a film in theaters. “We would occasionally skip our morning meal to save money for movie tickets,” he shared.

Turning the spotlight to his recent work, Akshay portrayed the real-life hero Jaswant Singh Gill in the film ‘Mission Raniganj.’ Although the film didn’t make substantial gains at the box office, the actor considers it his finest work to date.

Looking ahead, Akshay Kumar is set to star in ‘Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan’ opposite Tiger Shroff. Additionally, he has a slew of exciting projects on the horizon, including ‘Hera Pheri 3,’ ‘Sky Force,’ ‘Welcome To The Jungle,’ and many more, ensuring that his star continues to shine brightly in the world of cinema.
