Star Box Office Verdict: Kavin Starrer Tamil Film “Hit Or Flop”?

StarBoxOffice: Directed and written by Elan, the Tamil romantic drama film hit theaters on May 10, 2024. Featuring Kavin in the lead role, alongside Lal, Aaditi Pohankar, Preity Mukhundhan, and Geetha Kailasam, the movie garnered favorable reviews upon release and enjoyed a decent opening at the box office. Now that the film has finished its first week in theaters, it’s time to determine whether the film is a box office success or failure.

The Tamil romantic drama “Star” opened with ₹2.8 Cr on its first day, followed by slight growth over the weekend with ₹3.75 Cr each on Saturday and Sunday. However, it witnessed a significant decline during the weekdays, earning ₹1.25 Cr on Monday, ₹1.1 Cr on Tuesday, ₹0.9 Cr on Wednesday, and ₹0.61 Cr on Thursday. Despite this, it has amassed a domestic total of around ₹14.16 Cr. Despite slow growth, “Star” ranks among the highest-grossing Tamil films after “Lal Salaam,” “Rathnam,” and “Siren.”

Kavin’s Tamil Film, Star A Box Office “Hit Or A Flop”?

Despite the initial mixed performance, “Star” has managed to accumulate a domestic box office total of approximately ₹14.16 Cr. However, it did not have a consistent run throughout the week.

The film has also become one of the highest-grossing Tamil films of 2024 which indicates that it has achieved a notable level of success within the Tamil film industry, further affirming its status as a box office “success”, albeit not a blockbuster.
