Nayanthara is in the spotlight again but not for her legal battle with Dhanush. The Lady Superstar finds herself entangled in another major legal issue. After actor Dhanush sent her a legal notice for using clips from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in her wedding documentary Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale, the Chandramukhi makers have now followed suit. This time, they’re seeking ₹5 crore in damages for unauthorized use of content from the 2005 blockbuster.
The makers of 2005 film titled Chandramukhi starring Rajinikanth and Jyothika n the lead, claims that Nayanthara’s documentary features clips from the film without their prior permission. As per the reports stated in 123Telugu, the makers have now issued legal notices to both Nayanthara and Netflix, demanding whopping compensation. This controversy emerges just two months after Dhanush’s ₹10 crore lawsuit which also revolved around the same copyright infringement over documentary footage usage.
In November, Dhanush accused Nayanthara and her husband director Vignesh Shivan of using footage from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan without approval. The actor escalated the matter legally, making it a heated debate in Tamil film industry. Though it seemed to have cooled down recently, the Chandramukhi makers dispute has reignited questions about content usage rights in the entertainment industry.
Neither Nayanthara nor Netflix has commented on the latest legal notice. Fans and industry insiders are closely watching how the actress will respond to these claims, as one recalls how she fiercely dropped a bombshell on Dhanush with 4 page long latter posting on her social media handle.
