Veteran Kannada actress and presenter Aparna Vastarey passed away on Thursday evening at the age of 57 after a two-year battle with lung cancer. The news of her passing was confirmed by a close associate. Aparna was renowned for her work as a presenter on DD Chandana and for hosting numerous government programs and events.
Who Was Aparna Vastarey?
Aparna Vastarey was beloved for her flawless Kannada diction, which earned her a dedicated fan base. In 1998, she set a record by presenting shows for eight hours straight during Diwali celebrations. She made her acting debut in 1984 with Puttanna Kanagal’s final film, Masanada Hoovu, and enjoyed a thriving career in Kannada television. Additionally, Aparna was the voice behind the Bengaluru Metro announcements.
The late actress swiftly proved her talent, appearing in numerous films including the popular Inspector Vikram with Shiva Rajkumar. Her career took a significant turn in the 1990s when she transitioned from acting to hosting.
As a beloved television host, Aparna worked on various programs, especially with Chandana TV, where she built a loyal fan base. Her versatility shone through her roles as a radio jockey and comedian, solidifying her reputation as a well-known television personality.
