Veteran actress Asha Sharma, known for her impactful roles in both television and Bollywood, has passed away at the age of 88. The news of her death was shared by the Cine and TV Artists Association (CINTAA) on X (formerly Twitter), though the cause of her death remains unknown.

Asha Sharma’s name became synonymous with mother and grandmother roles on Indian television. She left an indelible mark with her performances, most notably in Zee TV’s popular serial Kumkum Bhagya. Her passing has left a significant void in the Indian entertainment industry, one that will be deeply felt by her colleagues and fans alike.

One of her co-stars from Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya, Pooja Gor, expressed her shock upon hearing the news. In an interview with Times Now/Telly Talk India, Gor said, “Really, I had no idea about this. It is quite a shocking piece of information for me.” Pooja went on to praise Sharma’s humility and kindness, recalling how the veteran actress used to continuously shower love and blessings on her co-stars. “May her beautiful soul rest in peace,” she added.

Asha Sharma was last seen on the big screen in Om Raut’s Adipurush (2023), where she played the role of Shabari alongside Prabhas. Her early career was marked by praise for her work in films such as Do Dishayen and she also made notable appearances in other Bollywood hits like Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha, Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam, Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai and more.

As of now, the details regarding the cause of veteran actress Asha Sharma death, as well as her last rites and prayer meet, have not been disclosed yet.
