The squad of multifaceted TV actors debated over the quality of content on Indian television, the medium’s relevance, its stellar reach, and its surging popularity. They also shed light on the fierce competition television faces from digital platforms, and the temptation to dabble in the OTT world.

The roundtable witnessed four clans of popular television actors like Harshad Chopda, Shakti Arora, Nehha Pendse, and Dheeraj Dhoopar sharing unfiltered insights about the television industry. Harshad, who has been in the industry for nearly 17 years, mentioned that if the writing is not good, no one can do anything, as good content will eventually rake in the ratings. Meanwhile, Shakti admits that he did try to venture into films and OTT, but got rejected many times and would come back to television. Shakti Arora also stated that this is the last generation that is watching television, as the Gen Z generation lacks patience, he admits that even he watches videos at double playback speed.

These days a plethora of actors are aiming to shift gears to the digital arena. Actor Dheeraj calls the OTT world “organized”, he recently made his digital debut, and Nehha Pendse, on the other hand, believes one can make the move, but it isn’t a cakewalk. If you want to be taken seriously in one medium, you have to disassociate yourself from the current medium for a while.
