In a shocking turn of events, reality TV personality Mia Thornton, known for her appearances on “The Real Housewives of Potomac,” and her husband Gordon Thornton have confirmed their decision to divorce after 11 years of marriage. The couple’s relationship has been a rollercoaster, and Mia shared her sentiments with People magazine, stating, “Like all marriages, ours has had its ups and downs. At this time, Gordon and I are separated, but my family is my number one priority, and I am committed to doing whatever it takes to make sure we are okay.”
Mia continued, “We ask that you respect our privacy and give us the time and space to figure things out.” The announcement comes as a surprise to fans who have followed their journey on the popular Bravo show.
Mia and Gordon, who first crossed paths in 2003, eventually tied the knot nine years later. And have two children, son Jeremiah Carter, 8, and daughter Juliana, 6.

Mia previously revealed that her estranged husband’s brothers allegedly “robbed them of everything they own.” The couple, who together own a chain of chiropractic clinics called The Joint Chiropractic, faced turmoil when Gordon’s siblings reportedly “recently revoked his access to the company bank account” while the couple was abroad. Mia claimed during the Season 7 reunion of “The Real Housewives of Potomac” that they were “literally living off [their] savings.”
While the exact reasons for their separation remain unclear, Mia recently posted a birthday tribute to her estranged husband on Instagram, captioning a carousel of photos with, “Cheers to 71 years around the Sun. Happy Birthday, My G!”
In June, she also shared a loving Father’s Day tribute to Gordon, acknowledging his role as a “powerful positive influence” on their children, saying, “I admire the way you love, nurture, and empower our babies to be the best versions of themselves. Thank you for loving us and being a great dad!”
