Vikram Vedha Director Pushkar Reacts To Clash With Ponniyin Selvan

Director Pushkar opens up on Vikram Vedha's box office clash with Mani Ratnam's film Ponniyin Selvan, here's what he said-

30th September will witness the faceoff of the two much-anticipated films of the year including Mani Ratnam’s film Ponniyin Selvan and Pushkar and Gayatri’s film Vikram Vedha. Opening up on the same Vikram Vedha’s director Pushkar recently said that Mani Ratnam’s classic film PS-1 couldn’t be beaten.

In a recent interaction with the media during a press conference Vikram Vedha director Pushkar said, “Ponniyin Selvan is a classic text, a tale of intrigue set during the Chola Empire. You can’t beat that. It’s a six-volume book that I read back in the day. That text has been an inspiration for every writer coming out of Chennai. We do our part and they have done theirs. Let’s hope people go and watch both movies. I think Friday-Saturday or Saturday-Sunday. I’ll be going and watching that movie for sure.” 

About Vikram Vedha And Ponniyin Selvan

For the unversed, Vikram Vedha is a remake of the 2017 Tamil film by the same name. However, the original flick featured R Madhavan as Vikram and Vijay Sethupati as Vedha in the film. The Hindi remake of the Tamil film features Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan in the lead roles, the film is helmed by Pushkar & Gayatri and is produced by Bhushan Kumar & S. Sashikanth and Reliance Entertainment. Vikram Vedha is presented by Gulshan Kumar, T-Series, and Reliance Entertainment in association with Friday Filmworks & Jio Studios and a YNOT Studios Production. Vikram Vedha will have a global release on 30th September 2022.

Ponniyin Selvan: I on the other hand is an epic period action pan-India film to be released in multiple languages including Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. The movie is set for worldwide release on September 30. Helmed by Mani Ratnam the film is produced under the banners of Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions.

The magnum opus stars Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai in double roles as Nandini and the princess of Pazhuvoor. Apart from Aishwarya the film also stars Cobra actor Chiyaan Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Trisha Krishnan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, and Karthi among many other actors in the film.
