Bollywood heartthrob Ranveer Singh recently ignited the excitement of fans and film enthusiasts when he candidly expressed his fervent desire to essay the iconic role of a “Don” in the popular franchise. The revelation came during a lively episode of Karan Johar’s long-running talk show, ‘Koffee With Karan,’ which marked the show’s eighth season premiere.
In this thrilling episode, the show’s host, Karan Johar, invited the dynamic duo of Bollywood, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, as his first guests of the season. During the fast-paced rapid-fire round, Johar quizzed Ranveer about the skepticism surrounding his potential as the leading character in the much-anticipated ‘Don 3,’ directed by the legendary Farhan Akhtar.
In response, Ranveer didn’t hesitate to make his dream clear, saying, “Ek chance dedo, 12-13 saal me thik thak hi kaam kiya hai maine, toh ek mauka toh banta hai” (Give me a chance, I have done decent work in the last 12-13 years, so I deserve a chance). This statement showcased his eagerness to take on this challenging role and prove his mettle in a character that has been synonymous with the legendary Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan.
The buzz surrounding Ranveer’s aspiration to play the iconic character was further fueled when he shared a series of childhood photographs after the announcement of ‘Don 3.’ Alongside these images, he penned an emotional note that left fans touched. In his post, Ranveer wrote, “Gosh! I’ve been dreaming about doing this for a very, very long time! As a child, I fell in love with the movies, and like the rest of us, watching and worshipping Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan – the two G.O.A.Ts of Hindi Cinema. I dreamed of growing up to be like them. They are the very reason I wanted to become an actor and a ‘hindi film hero’. Their impact and influence on my life cannot be overstated. They’ve shaped the person and actor that I am.”
Acknowledging the weight of his undertaking, Ranveer continued, “Taking their legacy forward is a manifestation of my childhood dream…I understand what a great responsibility it is to be a part of the ‘Don’ dynasty. I hope the audience gives me a chance and showers me with love, the way they have for numerous characters over the past so many years.
