Laapataa Ladies Box Office Verdict: Kiran Rao’s Film “Hit Or Flop”?

Directed by Aamir Khan’s ex-wife, Kiran Rao, the much-anticipated Bollywood film Laapataa Ladies was released in the theatres on 1 March 2024. Starring Sparsh Shrivastava and Pratibha Ranta the comedy-drama received positive reviews from critics and moviegoers. Despite receiving good reviews the film registered a low opening. Now that the film has finished its first week in theaters, it’s time to determine whether the film is a box office success or failure.

As per sacnilk.com, Laapataa Ladies registered a super low opening at the box office. The film earned only ₹65 lakh on its opening day (first day) at the box office. The film saw slight growth during the weekend, earning ₹ 1.45 Cr on Saturday and ₹ 1.7 Cr on Sunday.

However, the film saw a huge drop at the box office during the weekdays. Seeing a drop Laapataa Ladies earned ₹ 0.5 Cr on Monday, ₹ 0.55 Cr on Tuesday, ₹ 0.53 Cr on Wednesday, and is expected to earn around ₹ 0.04 Cr on Thursday. Reportedly the film now stands at a domestic total of approx. ₹ 5.52 Cr.

Laapataa Ladies Story/Plot

“Laapataa Ladies” narrates the story of Sparsh, a man who brings his newly married wife home after a lavish wedding. However, when she unveils her veil, it’s discovered that Deepak mistakenly brought another woman home, as his actual wife had been separated from him on a train journey.

Meanwhile, the real wife finds herself at a different train station, struggling to recall her husband’s village or precise address. The narrative explores the events that unfold when Kishan, a police officer, undertakes the investigation of their disappearance.
