Director Abhishek Pathak is riding high on the success of Drishyam 2. The suspense thriller is currently roaring at the theaters. Ajay Devgn starrer has pulled the sinking Bollywood crossing 100 crore mark in the opening weekend. Director Abhishek Pathak has his own way of celebrating the success saying, “I’ll rest now, as I haven’t slept for a year.”
While Ajay Devgn’s version of Drishyam 2 is ruling the theaters, Drishyam 3 is in news. Earlier it was reported that the Malayalam and Hindi version of the third chapter will release on the same date. It is widely known that the Drishyam series is a remake of the Malayalam film of the same name starring Mohanlal.
Abhishek Pathak who directed the second chapter of the Hindi language confirmed the next installments of the movie. In a recent interview with ETimes, Abhishek spoke about Drishyam 3 and Drishyam 4. He said, “People are excited, so they are going to make theories on parts 3 and 4. But we’re just about to close our first week now. For sure there’s a demand for part 3, and it shall happen, but we are just happy to be crossing the 100-crore number at the moment. Once we have some time off, we will think about what we’re going to do in the next part but as of now we’re just enjoying every bit of feedback that we’re getting.”
In another interview, Pathak was asked will we also see Devgn return to protect his on-screen family, third time around? To this, the filmmaker replied, “Of course, I will direct Drishyam 3. I’d love to direct all future installments, but let [the third part] get written.”
Drishyam series is a tale of a middle-class man who goes to an extent to mask a crime committed by his daughter for self-defense. Helmed by Abhishek Pathak, Drishyam 2 has a previous cast including Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Ishita Dutta, Shriya Saran, and Rajat Kapoor among others. The star cast is joined by Akshaye Khanna as a new entrant in the story. The suspense thriller is produced under the banners of Panorama Studios.
