Ajay Devgn starrer Drishyam 2 was released in theaters on 18th November and it is receiving an overwhelming response. In just four days the movie emerged as a massive box-office success. The remake of a popular Malayalam film in the same name has crossed the 100 crore mark already. While the sequel of the crime thriller is being enjoyed by audiences reports hints at an extension of the franchise with Drishyam 3.
Drishyam series is a tale of a middle-class man who goes to an extent to mask a crime committed by his daughter for self-defense. Part one and two of the crime series kept the audience on edge-of-the-seat suspense and now reports suggest that Drishyam 3 is on cards. Yes, you read that right. If E-Times reports are to go by then a third installment of the film is in the plan.
Reports claim that the Malayam and Hindi version of Drishyam 3 will be released on the same date. So far, the Hindi version of the crime drama was made years later the Malayalam movie starring Mohanlal was released. But for the third installment, the makers have decided to make the third chapter simultaneously to avoid suspense getting leaked to the Hindi audience.
Therefore, to retain the suspense of the crime thriller both versions of Drishyam 3 will be released on the same date. A source close to the development informed the entertainment portal. “The idea of the third part was originally there as well, the stupendous collection has only strengthened it. Clearly, this franchise is here to stay.”
Drishyam 1 and 2 are widely loved by the audience. Both chapters feature Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Shriya Saran, and Ishita Dutta, among others. The series is a remake of Mohanlal starrer and Jeethu Joseph’s directorial much-celebrated movie. The original director has almost finalized the story for Drishyam 3 and is expected to start rolling by end of 2023.
