“12th Fail” Secures No.1 Position On IMDb’s Top 250 Best Indian Films

“12th Fail” has been making waves since its release, gaining increasing acclaim, especially after its recent debut on Disney+ Hotstar. Originally hitting theaters in October last year, the film’s arrival on the streaming platform has amplified its recognition. Adding to Director Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s achievements, the movie has secured a spot in the top 250 best Indian films, claiming the esteemed No. 1 position with a remarkable 9.2 rating.

According to a firstpost.com report, “12th Fail” has emerged as a leader among films released worldwide in 2023, amassing over 20,000 user votes on IMDb. With a staggering 9.2 out of 10 rating and more than 35,000 votes, it stands tall, surpassing “Oppenheimer,” which holds an 8.4 rating.

The movie’s success story isn’t limited to critical acclaim; it performed miraculously at the box office. Despite a slow start, its momentum surged through word of mouth, accumulating around Rs 67 crore. Notably, “12th Fail” was reportedly crafted on a modest budget of Rs 20 crore.

Adapted from Anurag Pathak’s 2019 eponymous non-fiction book, the film revolves around the inspirational real-life journey of Manoj Kumar Sharma. Rising from extreme poverty to attain the prestigious Indian Police Service position, Manoj’s story serves as a beacon of inspiration. The film stars Medha Shankar, Anant V Joshi, Anshumaan Pushkar, and Priyanshu Chatterjee in pivotal roles.
