Sardar 2 Stuntman Dies After Falling From 20 Feet On Set, Makers React

During the filming of PS Mithran’s movie “Sardar 2,” starring Karthi, a stuntman named Elumalai tragically suffered a fatal accident on Tuesday (July 16). Elumalai fell 20 feet from a rostrum while filming an action sequence and was immediately taken to the hospital.

The shooting of “Sardar 2,” filmed at LV Prasad Studios in Saligramam, Chennai, was interrupted when a tragic accident occurred. Elumalai, aged 54, sustained severe injuries after falling 20 feet during an action sequence. Despite immediate medical attention and notification to Virugambakkam police officials, Elumalai succumbed to internal hemorrhage and passed away at 11:30 pm. The production of “Sardar 2” has been suspended pending investigation.

Prince Pictures, the production company behind Sardar 2, issued a press statement confirming the tragic incident. “We regret to report the death of Mr Elumalai, a member of the Stunt Union who worked as a stunt rig man on the sets of our film Sardar 2. On Tuesday evening July 16, after the stunt sequences were filmed, as we were wrapping up shooting for the day, Mr Elumalai accidentally fell from a rostrum of 20 feet high and sustained injuries.”

They added, “He was rushed to the neraby multi speciality hospital where he was treated by the team of doctors. However, at around 11.30 pm on July 16, 2024, despite the intensive medical treatment, Mr Elumalai unfortunately passed away. Our entire team extend our sincerest condolences to Mr Elumalai’s family and we stand with them in this time of grief.”

Reacting to the statement many netizens bashed the makers for not offering any compensation to the deceased stuntman’s family. A user tweeted, “What? No Compensation? Pathetic this is @Prince_Pictures @Karthi_Offl sir and @iam_SJSuryah sir, you people should announce some compensation at least or help their family throughout their tough times”.

One wrote, “Please donate some money to their family because of your safety negligence his family is going to suffer now.”
