According to the reports of Times of India, The Amboli Police Station in Mumbai last evening filed an FIR against the Chief Officers, Directors and others of one of the biggest Film Studios in India Viacom 18 Media Pvt Ltd partly owned by Network 18 Group which is regulated and owned by Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries Ltd and also against the Managing Director and Vice President of Shemaroo Entertainment Limited.
According to the reports prime accused in the FIR include Viacom 18’s group CEO Mr.Sudhanshu Vats, COO Ajit Andhare & others and Mr.Raman Hirji Maroo and Mr.Vinod Karani the MD and Vice President of Shemaroo Entertainment Limited respectively amongst several others.
The report in TOI suggested that the complain was placed after a detailed inquiry on producer Satish Tandon of M/s Satish Tandon Productions allegation. Satish is the Producer of films such as ‘Jung’ released in the year 2000 starring Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Shilpa Shetty and Raveena Tandon in the main lead.
Satish has alleged that Viacom 18 has been illegally streaming multiple movies on its digital platform ‘Voot.com’ without taking any permission or a valid license from the owner/producers of the content all this while making crores of rupees.
The complain against Viacom 18 was filed back in January 2019 for cheating, fraud and illegal copyright infringement.However, in the course of the investigation the police also found many material against film aggregator companies like Shemaroo Entertainment Limited who own negative rights of thousands of Hindi and other language movies and are supply these contents to big studios for hosting on their platforms.
