Just when all of us thought “Wicked” couldn’t get any more magical, Universal Pictures chose to introduce an exciting surprise. As “Wicked” continues to soar at the box office and build anticipation for the Oscars nominations, Universal has announced a title change for the second half of Jon M. Chu’s Broadway adaptation, set to be released next year.
The second installment will officially be titled “Wicked: For Good,” and it’s already sending fans into a frenzy ahead of its release on November 21, 2025. “Wicked: For Good” is not just a title; but is also a beloved duet from the Wicked Broadway musical that highlights themes of friendship, forgiveness, and change.
Ariana Grande, one of the film’s lead actresses, shared the announcement video on her official Instagram account and wrote, “You will be changed. Wicked: For Good, only in theaters November 21, 2025…”
Over its first four weekends in theaters, “Wicked” has grossed $525 million at the global box office, with $359 million coming from North America. This impressive total makes it the highest-grossing Broadway film adaptation of all time.
Both parts of the film are inspired by Gregory Maguire’s 1995 novel, “Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West.” The book offers a fresh perspective on the origin story of the Wicked Witch of the West and her former friendship with Glinda, the Good Witch.
