However, it was the role of Mirabai in Doordarshan’s Mirabai before SONPARI that brought her immense fame. This star who worked in several films apart from just daily soap drama once talked about the real difference between a film actor and a TV actor. In an exclusive interview with Lehren Retro, Mrinal Kulkarni was asked why is she so inclined towards TV serials and what draws her close to the daily soap dramas more as compared to the big screens. Answering the same, Mrinal stated that she feels there should be no comparison to be made between a film actor and a serial actor. Highlighting the long working hours and productivity level, Mrinal says a TV actor tries to serve his audience with something new and admiring each single day, while the screen actor is done entertaining in just three hours of the show. Also, there is no information on how long a single TV series will last so the artist has to consistently work hard to keep the viewers bounded to the show. This is what, according to her, makes TV most difficult for her.
Further, Mrinal says she always had a wide range of roles for different TV dramas that have always kept her close to working. When asked if she wants to do films or not, she said that these TV shows have given her so much in her career that she wants to pay it back by doing the best of her roles on television itself. “Films are not my priority”, Mrinal added in her statement.
