Ever since Bigg Boss OTT 3 started this year, the viewership has been rising steadily and with a grand opening done by Anil Kapoor, the premiere day garnered a total of 4.5 million views. Bigg Boss OTT 3 is the first to receive this huge viewership and has even crossed the Salman Khan-hosted Bigg Boss OTT 2 this time. The audience seems much more interested in the current OTT season rather than the one that rolled in last year.
Reports state that Anil Kapoor’s Bigg Boss OTT 3 has received around 120% more views than Salman Khan’s last edition. Bigg Boss OTT 3 is streaming on Jio Cinema with Anil Kapoor as the season’s host. With contestants like Sana Maqbool, Chandrika Dixit, Vishal Pandey, Armaan Malik with wives, Payal and Kritika Malik – the season has started with a spark right from its first day. Where Salman’s Bigg Boss OTT season collected a total of 2.4 million views in 3 days, the current season has almost crossed the record giving back 5.3 million views in 3 days.
However, the season has not yet matched up to the hype level created by Kangana Ranaut’s Lock Upp. Lock Upp was a reality show streamed on MX Player and MTV in 2022 with contestants staying together in the same house and facing daily nuisances and challenges. Bigg Boss OTT 3, however, has received a much lower reach than Lock Upp which had 15 million viewership in mere 48 hours.
It will be interesting to watch if Anil Kapoor takes this season ahead with the same pace or falls off track after a while. Viewers have a lot of expectations from the current season so it would be fun to watch how far the competition goes. As per the records crossed so far, it seems easier to cross Salman Khan’s entire season reach which was a huge 2450 million views over the eight weeks.
So far the season has seen two evictions with boxer Neeraj Goyat being the first person evicted from the house followed by Payal Mallik.
