In a recent conversation with Zoe Kravitz, Matt Reeves disclosed that conversations about The Penguin season 2 have begun, which comes out as an encouraging sign for the future of the show. “We’re talking to Lauren about doing another season. That was a special experience. I just feel really fortunate. These characters don’t belong to me; they belong to the world. It comes down to whether you can approach them in a way that expresses something personal”,  Reeves said in his statement.

Before The Penguin Season 2 takes the center stage, viewers are informed that season 1 garnered critical acclaim while recently receiving a Golden Globe nomination for being the Best Limited Anthology Series. Farrell and Milioti were also nominated for best actor and actress, respectively. The Penguin Season 1 premiered on September 19, 2024, which further ran until November 10, 2024, without taking much time to become one of the best DC villain adaptations. The way the show highlights poverty and classism is worth appreciating.

Before The Penguin season 2, Reeves is supposed to be working on The Batman: Part II, the highly anticipated sequel to 2022’s The Batman. Reeves is finishing the script, with plans to begin its filming in 2025 as he also accepted that writing The Batman Part II has been a “slow” exercise, but it’s all part of his process.
