Lisa Kudrow, best known for her role as Phoebe Buffay on the hit TV show Friends, recently spoke about the sitcom’s significant impact on fans’ mental health. Kudrow shared her insights during a mental health awareness event, emphasizing the unique role Friends has played in people’s lives.

At SiriusXM’s Where Everbody Knows Your Name Podcast by Woody Harrelson and Ted Danson, Kudrow reflected on how the show has provided comfort and support to viewers worldwide. She shared an incident post 9/11 after which she felt that her hit sitcom series was providing a “mental health service” to the viewers. Kudrow explained that while she was driving home, someone next to her, who looked tired and exhausted said “Thank You” to her and that when it hit her “Oh no. We are actually providing a service, like a mental health service.”

Friends, which aired from 1994 to 2004, remains immensely popular, with reruns and streaming services introducing it to new generations of viewers. The show’s themes of friendship, humour, and relatable life experiences have resonated deeply, providing a sense of connection and comfort to many.
