Javier Bardem stars as Max Cady in the new 'Cape Fear' series, executive produced by Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg.

Apple TV+ has officially given green light to the new ‘Cape Fear’ TV series, bringing together a powerhouse of talent. Oscar winners Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg are executive producing with Spanish superstar Javier Bardem leading the cast as the iconic villain, Max Cady as reported by Variety and Deadline.

The series, based on John D. MacDonald’s novel The Executioners, takes inspiration from both the 1962 and 1991 film adaptations. This 10-episode thriller promises to delve into America’s obsession with true crime while offering a gripping, Hitchcockian narrative.

In this reimagined version, the married couple Amanda and Steve Bowden are attorneys whose peaceful lives are upended when Max Cady, a notorious killer from their past is released from prison. While the original novels and films centered on the husband as a lawyer this series offers a fresh perspective with both partners in the legal profession.
