Drake’s team has officially replied to a widespread allegation that the rapper was detained on Thursday, July 14 while visiting Sweden. Drake’s journey to Europe was captured on his Instagram Story. Despite the fact that many fans used the hashtag “Free Drake,” his team denied that he had been jailed in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.
Several followers, notably YouTuber DJ Akademiks, uploaded memes on Twitter in response to the idea that Drake had been jailed. Fans posted videos demonstrating how they intended to free the rapper. “Me training to free Drake from prison,” one fan said with a video of someone hitting beer bottles. Several fans even asked President Joe Biden to assist “Free Drake,” despite the rapper’s Canadian citizenship.
According to Hot New Hip Hop, the trend originated after a fan on Instagram reported that the Certified Lover Boy rapper was arrested for consuming marijuana during his visit. It’s unclear what sparked the allegation, but Drake’s crew assured fans that the “Life Is Good” singer was safe and sound in his hotel room. On Thursday, Drake shared a photo of his amazing hotel suite, replete with champagne, on his Instagram Story.
Regardless of rumours, Drake appears to be doing well in the wake of the June release of his most recent album, Honestly, Nevermind. When the album was released, he asked his friend Tristan Thompson to play the role of his best man in the music video for his most recent hit, “Falling Back.”
In addition to his own songs, Drake has demonstrated his appreciation for some of the timeless hits he grew up listening to. One example is the time he joined the Backstreet Boys onstage for a particularly special performance of “I Want It That Way” in 1999 during their Toronto concert.
Along with the release of new songs, Drake also revealed on Wednesday that he was organising a fantastic summer music festival. He discussed his plans to invite Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, and Nicki Minaj to the spectacular performance.
