Reynolds, known for his role as the wise-cracking, anti-hero Deadpool, praised the camaraderie between his character and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. “There’s so many moments in the movie where it’s hard to tell if Deadpool’s talking to Wolverine, Wolverine talking to Deadpool, or it’s Hugh and Ryan talking to each other. And I’m really proud of those moments.,” Reynolds shared in an interview. The Free Guy (2021) says that the movie is “It’s about friendship, and friendship is another version of a love story.”

The friendship between Deadpool and Wolverine has been a significant aspect of Marvel Comics, often marked by their banter and mutual respect. This dynamic is expected to be a focal point in ‘Deadpool 3,’ which promises to blend humor with action, staying true to the essence of both characters.

Hugh Jackman didn’t plan to return as Wolverine but changed his plan after watching the original Deadpool (2016) film. “I really thought I was done. And then, five or six years later, I was driving and I just knew in my bones I wanted to do that.,” the X-Men actor said. “I had no idea how hard it would be physically at age 55 to do it but it’s absolutely worth it. I have loved every second,” he added.

Directed by Shawn Levy, the upcoming MCU film is set to push boundaries while maintaining the irreverent humour that has become a trademark of the Deadpool franchise. The film, written by Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wells is set to be released theatrically on Friday, July 26, 2024 worldwide.
