Ben Stiller’s highly anticipated comedy, Nutcrackers, is set to premiere at the 49th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on 5th September 2024. The film, directed by David Gordon Green, will have its world premiere at TIFF as the opening film of the prestigious film festival.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nutcrackers will be screened at the Roy Thomson Hall with regular filmgoers other than industry people, and it is not something we often see at the Cannes and Venice film festivals. The closing film for TIFF 2024 is a musical film, The Deb, directed by debutant Hannah Reilly.
Nutcrackers is Ben Stiller’s first film seeing him on screen since 2017. He was last seen playing a role in Brad’s Status, directed by Mike White and The Meyerowitz Stories by Noah Baumbach on Netflix. The upcoming film boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Linda Cardellini, Tim Heidecker, Toby Huss, and Edi Patterson.

The screenplay, written by Leland Douglas, centres around a workaholic man, Mike, played by Ben Stiller, who travels to a rural area in Ohio to take care of his four nephews after their parents pass away in an accident and realizes that he need not have to find a home for them as his nephews found a new home for him.
The Toronto International Film Festival, known for showcasing groundbreaking films and hosting prestigious premieres, provides the perfect platform for Nutcrackers. The festival’s diverse audience and critical acclaim offer an excellent opportunity for the film to gain widespread attention and generate buzz ahead of its wider release.
As the premiere date approaches, expectations for Nutcrackers continue to rise. The film’s blend of comedy, stellar performances, and Gordon Green’s directorial prowess positions it for a grand premiere in 2024.
