Aditya Roy Kapur’s spy thriller series The Night Manager which is currently streaming on Disney+Hotstar has become instant hit. The series is trending on social media. But suddenly from Wednesday afternoon, the hashtag, “TNM Is Better Than Pathaan” has started to trend on Indian Twitter.
At first glance it seems that netizens who have watched both- The Night Manager as well as Pathaan are more impressed by the series and finally expressing their opinion on Twitter. But if one pay bit more attention, you can notice certain discrepancies. Like this twitter user who is also using the same hashtag in her tweet but the user has not even watched the series.
Hence this hashtag creates more confusion, especially considering these two projects are vastly different both in terms of subject and it’s treatment. The Night Manager is an intense spy thriller with high emotional drama where as Pathaan is a pure mass masala entertainer made for big screen experience.
Although both projects are about a spy, there is nothing similar to compare in the first place. Also if Pathaan was not impressive enough, it wouldn’t have left such log lasting impact on the audience and had managed to become the first Hindi movie to cross the Rs. 1000 crore gross without China. Hence it’s quite clear that there is something fishy about this whole trend.
