Vivek Agnihotri Sends Legal Notice To Mamata Banerjee, Asks Her To Apologize

Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri issued a legal notice to CM Mamata Banerjee asking her to issue an apology for her comment on his film "The Kashmir Files".

Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee recently issued a ban on film, “The Kerala Story” which has created a huge uproar on the social media. While the fans were already opposing the act of the politician, Bollywood filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri sent a legal notice to Mamata Banerjee for “defaming” his film “The Kashmir Files“, further asking the politician to issue a “tender unconditional apology”.

For the unversed, Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee recently issued a ban on Sudipto Sen’s popular film, “The Kerala Story“, while issuing the ban, the politician also made some remarks about Vivek Agnihotri’s film “The Kashmir Files” stating that the film was purely meant to humiliate a particular section of society.

Following her defamatory remark filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri took to his Twitter account and shared a four page long notice. Sharing the notice he wrote, “BREAKING: I have, alongwith @AbhishekOfficl & Pallavi Joshi, sent a LEGAL NOTICE to the Chief Minister, Bengal @MamataOfficial for her false & highly defamatory statements made with malafide intention to defame us & our films #TheKashmirFiles & upcoming 2024 film #TheDelhiFiles.”

The Kerala Story Ban Controvery

Meanwhile, on the other hand, Sudipto Sen’s directorial, “The Kerala Story” is now facing a ban in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and now in West Bengal too. While after Mamata Banerjee proposed a ban on the film in Bengal, UP CM Yogi Adityanath made the film “tax-free” in the state thus urging more people to watch the film.

Apart from the politicians, many Bollywood celebrities have publically opposed the ban proposed on “The Kerala Story” thus supporting the film. While the film is now also trending on Twitter, where the netizens are also hugely supporting the film and urging others to watch it too.
