Sharvari Wagh, who wowed audiences with her sizzling dance moves in the hit number Taras from the film Munjya, became a sensation after the movie’s release on June 7, 2024. The actress captivated everyone with her acting, making the film a success. However, did you know she wasn’t the first choice for the role? According to an anonymous Reddit post, Sharvari Wagh replaced this 28-year-old actress in the film at the last moment and the decision stirred conversations online.
The Reddit post claims that Sanjana Sanghi, known for her roles in Dil Bechara and Rashtra Kavach Om, was originally selected to play the lead opposite newcomer Abhay Verma. The actress even participated in workshops for the role. However, as per the post, she was suddenly replaced without prior notice.
It reads, “Dil Bechara actress Sanjana Sanghi was initially confirmed for Munjya and even attended workshops for it. However, she was suddenly replaced by Sharvari at the last minute without any prior notice. Rani Mukerji’s favoritism towards Sharvari, along with YRF-Maddock connections, helped her secure this role. Additionally, all articles mentioning Sanjana’s inclusion in this movie were removed.”
Netizens REACTS!
Despite the sudden switch, netizens didn’t seem surprised by the change and instead praised the decision. A user commented, “For the first time, I’m not feeling bad about a tea but said, ‘ekdam accha.’” Another added, “Personally, I don’t enjoy Sanjana’s screen presence; she is quite bland. I prefer Sharvari more for her screen presence.”
Talking on the success of Taras, one said, “Sanjana could have never pulled off the Taras song.” Others echoed similar sentiments, calling Sharvari a better fit for the character – “Not that the female lead was written great, but Sharvari was more suitable as a Maharashtrian girl. Sanjana would’ve been a miscast.” While some questioned how Sharvari Wagh replaced Sanjana Sanghi, others argued that the decision ultimately benefited the movie. As one user aptly summed up, “Sharvari is a much better actor than Sanjana. Karma, maybe?”
