As we celebrate the return of our cult-favorite ‘Karan Arjun’ in theatres on November 22, the director recalls a furious incident from the sets. In one of the most shocking Bollywood moments, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan shot another Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan but it wasn’t for a scene in classic phenomenon Karan Arjun, directed by Rakesh Roshan. This fun off-camera moment took place during a prank on set that left everyone in shock.
The two superstars, known for their unbreakable and amusing bond had decided to play a joke on their co-stars and crew members. As planned, firstly both bumped into intense argument then Salman Khan shot Shah Rukh Khan with a blank gun, leading to SRK fell down tumbling on floor, panicking the entire cast and crew present at the moment. This hilarious incident has become one of the many funny off-sets stories shared by the stars of Karan Arjun.
Recalling this shocking yet hilarious incident from the sets of his directorial film during the conversation with Galatta India, the director Rakesh Roshan shared how it stunned him. He recalled, “They first argued with each other, they enacted the whole thing and we all were sitting.” Initially, everyone thought the situation was serious, especially as Shah Rukh fell to the ground.
Director Rakesh Roshan was understandably shaken and said, “I remember I said aise mat kiya karo yaar. Yeh koi mazak hai? (Don’t do this. Is this a joke?) This is a very serious thing. Someone might get a shock and die on the set. But they were kids at that time.”
Additionally, in a previous interview talking about the same moment, Salman Khan explained how he borrowed a gun with no bullets for the prank. “For ten minutes, I stood with red eyes and said, ‘Koi nahi uthega, sabko maar dunga (No one will get up, I will kill everyone).’ Rakesh ji’s hands started trembling,” Salman recalled. It wasn’t until Shah Rukh “snored” from the floor that everyone realized the joke was over.
‘Karan Arjun’ is re-releasing in theatres this week on November 22, 2024, which has already generated a significant buzz among Bollywood cult favourites!
