Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt’s recent long note written on Instagram story read about the rumours concerning her appearance, particularly claims that she had cosmetic surgery. On social media, Alia made it clear that she has no problem with anyone choosing to have cosmetic work done, saying, “Absolutely NO JUDGEMENT towards anyone who chooses cosmetic corrections or surgery – your body, your choice.” However, she strongly denied rumours that she had Botox, which supposedly went wrong and left part of her face paralyzed.
Feeling frustrated, Alia said, “This is beyond ridiculous! To the random video floating around literally claiming I’ve had Botox gone wrong—this is your hypercritical, microscopic judgment of a human face.” She stressed how harmful these rumours can be, especially for young people who might believe them. Alia also questioned the reasons behind such untrue claims, stating, “What’s worse is that you’re influencing young minds who might actually believe this garbage.”
In her message, Alia also talked about how women are often judged harshly online with their bodies and personal lives constantly under scrutiny. “We should be celebrating individuality, not tearing it apart,” she pointed out. Alia noted that these harsh judgments can create unrealistic expectations that damage people’s self-esteem. She also expressed concern that much of this judgment comes from other women, asking her fans to reconsider the negative behaviour often seen on social media.
Taking to the reddit, the users have now reacted to Alia Bhatt’s response as well. One commenter mentioned that Alia tends to avoid direct criticism by changing the subject. “When Alia gets truly rattled, she posts about something else completely,” they noted, suggesting that she seemed particularly upset about the backlash from her film, Jigra. Another user commented that the speculation about her looks is an old issue, saying, “There are so many things she could’ve addressed, and she’s bothered by this.”
Alia Bhatt’s comments bring attention to the larger issue of body image and the pressure women face in the spotlight. While she firmly addresses her critics, many people online believe there are more important issues she should speak on.
