Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor is busy promoting his upcoming film Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar along with Shraddha Kapoor. Last year he received a severe backlash on social media after he stated that he has no scruples about working in a Pakistani film. While speaking on the sidelines of the Red Sea, he said there are no boundaries for artists and that he does not have any problem working with Pakistani filmmakers. Now the actor has clarified his controversy during his upcoming film promotion.
While talking with the media in Chandigarh, Ranbir stated that art is not bigger than your country. The Rockstar actor was qouted saying, “I think yeh thoda mera statement misconstrue ho gaya tha. I had gone to a film festival, and there were a lot of Pakistani filmmakers asking me this question: “If you’ve got a good subject, would you do it?” So, I didn’t want it to be controversial in any way.” He further stated, “I don’t think it’s a controversy.” But, for me, films are films, and art is art. I have worked with Fawad Khan in “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.” I have known a lot of artists from Pakistan. Rahat (Fateh Ali Khan) and Atif Aslam are such great singers who used to contribute to Hindi cinema. So, cinema is cinema. “I don’t think cinema sees boundaries.”

The actor stated that art is not bigger than one’s country. He said, “But, of course, you have to respect art, but at the same time, art is not bigger than your country.” “So, anybody who is not on good terms with your country, your first priority will always be your country.”
Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar, directed by Luv Ranjan, also stars Shraddha Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia, Boney Kapoor, and Anubhav Singh Bassi. The film is all set to hit theatres on March 8, overlapping with the Holi weekend.
