Rajkummar Rao to step into Dharmendra shoes for the remake of Chupke Chupke

Rajkummar Rao who is currently gearing up for the release of his upcoming venture Made In China, which also features Mouni Roy, Boman Irani and Paresh Rawal recently opened up about his role in the remake of Chupke Chupke

1975’s Chupke Chupke that featured the ensemble of Dharmendra, Amitabh Bachchan, Sharmila Tagore, Jaya Bhaduri, Asrani, Om Prakash and more is one of the timeless cult classics and yet happens to be one of the favourites of many cinema lovers. The classic is now set to get a remake and the versatile star Rajkummar Rao is roped in to play Dharmendra’s role in the upcoming film.

Rajkummar Rao in a recent interview opened up about him reprising the role of Dr. Parimal Tripathi in the remake and said, “It’s a big responsibility to step into his shoes. The scripting is underway now. We know that we can’t match Hrishida’s (Hrishikesh Mukherjee, director) standard, but we will try and put our best foot forward.”

He also revealed that he was offered Dostana 2 but had to reject it due to other commitments. He exclaimed, “Dates, My next project, opposite Priyanka Chopra, will be shot at the same time. But it’s a great script and Colin D’Cunha, the director, is my classmate from FTII.” 

Rajkummar is currently on a promotional spree for is upcoming movie Made In China, which also stars Mouni Roy, Boman Irani and Paresh Rawal in key roles. On being asked about the film that revolves around sexual problems, he said, “It has a U/A certification, the jokes are cracked by responsible actors who won’t do anything crass and the humour is situational, the kind you can watch with family.” The film will hit theatres this Diwali and will also clash with  Housefull 4 and Saand Ki Aankh at the ticket windows.
