The veteran superstar Moon Moon Sen’s husband Bharat Dev Varma, and father to actors Raima and Riya Sen, passed away on Tuesday, on November 19, 2024 at his Kolkata residence. He was 77 years old. According to reports, his health had been deteriorating and an ambulance was called from a nearby hospital in Dhakuria. However, before it could arrive Bharat Dev Varma passed away.
Bharat Dev Varma hailed from the royal family of Tripura. His mother Ila Devi was a princess pf Cooch Behar and the elder sister of Maharani Gayatri Devi of Jaipur. Soon after the death news of Moon Moon Sen’s husband, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee took to social media to express her sorrow. She shared her heartfelt condolences and wrote, “Saddened by the demise of Bharat Dev Varma, the husband of filmstar Moon Moon Sen, and himself a great well-wisher of mine. He was indeed very loving and affectionate to me and I shall always treasure his memories. He truly considered me as part of his family and his demise is a great loss for me. After getting the news today morning, I visited their Ballygunge residence, where their daughter Riya was present. Moon Moon and Raima are coming from Delhi. I paid my respect to the departed and condolences to the family.”

Bharat got married to the actress Moon Moon Sen in 1976, being parents to two daughters Raima and Riya Sen who both of them followed the footsteps of their mother and pursued career in acting.
