Actor Sonu Sood has faced backlash on social media for defending a food vendor who spat on a customer’s food. Now, actor-politician Kangana Ranaut has also criticized him, condemning his stance.
The actor-turned-MP expressed her criticism of Sonu Sood on X (formerly Twitter), who is recognized for his humanitarian efforts. She remarked, “Next you know Sonu ji will direct his own Ramayana based on his own personal findings about God and religion. Wah kya baat hai Bollywood se ek aur Ramayana,”
Sonu Sood Faced Criticism For Defending Food Vendor
The controversy started earlier this week when a user on X posted a video of a boy making rotis for customers, which showed him “spitting” on the dough. This video was shared in response to Sonu Sood’s comments about the mandate from Uttar Pradesh and Haridwar authorities requiring eateries along the Kanwar Yatra route to display their owners’ names.
In response to Sonu’s tweet a user wrote, “The roti smeared with spit should be parcelled to Sonu Sood, so that brotherhood remains intact!”. However, Sonu Sood replied back, giving the reference of Shabri from Ramayana, he wrote, “Our Shri Ram Ji ate the sour berries of Shabri, so why can’t I eat them? Violence can be defeated by non-violence my brother. Humanity must just remain intact. Jai Shri Ram”.
This sparked extreme reactions from netizens who slammed and bashed Sonu Sood for going out of his way to defend the vendor’s act of “spitting” in the food.
On the work front, Sonu Sood’s next film, Fateh, a cyber-crime thriller with Jacqueline Fernandez and Naseeruddin Shah, will release later this year. Meanwhile, Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency, where she portrays Indira Gandhi, is set for release on September 7.
